Description
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is the main R&D organization of the DOD. Its objectives include management and supervision of R&D projects that can potentially change the manner in which war is carried out. Its role is crucial in maintaining the superiority of the U.S armed forces and ensuring that U.S. security does not get compromised due to technical obsolescence. DARPA exists to find military applications for fundamental discoveries. Programs conducted by DARPA include Advanced Technology Office (ATO) Program, Defense Sciences Office (DSO) Programs, Information Processing Technology Office (IPTO) Programs, etc.
