The American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) was formed in 1907. Its objective is to investigate the disease and disseminate useful information regarding the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer. The association has more than 24,000 members who work in laboratories, medical centers, and clinics to try and evolve a cure and preventive treatment for the more than 200 types of cancer. Five peer-reviewed scientific journals are published by the association. Activities of the association include convening scientific conferences dealing with cancer research and working with cancer survivors to raise public awareness about the disease.

The Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO, was formed in 1969 with the initiative of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. The main task of ISRO is to further space technology that can be used for developing telecommunication, metrological services, television broadcasting, etc. ISRO’s achievements include the development of the INSAT series of satellites, Indian Remote Sensing Satellites (IRS) used to monitor and manage resources.
