The International Development Research Centre (IDRC), which is a public corporation, was formed by the Canadian parliament in 1970. Its objective is to aid developing countries in the development of solutions for social, economic, and environmental problems by using science and technology. CSIRO, which was established in 1926, is one of the largest scientific research organizations in the world. It is based in Australia and its objectives include offering innovative solutions to industry and society; facilitating the application of research results, wherever useful; and training researchers. Currently, CSIRO has more than 6,500 people conducting scientific research in over 57 sites in Australia and other countries.
